Lakeland defeated St. Mary's of Jersey City 44-34 in the consolation game of the Ranger Holiday Tournament as Lauren Veith tickled the twine with 10 of her game-high 15 points in the second half when the Lady Lancers went on a 10-4 in the fourth quarter. Stephanie Roberts finished with nine points while Toni Calabrese and Kristin Moore chipped in with six each and Amanda Byrnes added five.
 

Lancers advance to finals of Ranger Holiday Tournament

Lakeland edged Wallkill Valley 48-47 to advance to the finals of the Ranger Holiday Tournament. The Lancers title game against Spring Valley (NY) was postponed Saturday due to the snow storm.
Matt Diamond nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to save the Lancers. The game was close from start to finish with eight lead changes and six ties while neither team led by more than five points at any time. Diamond led all scorers with a game-high 24 points while Derrick Jurgensen chipped in with 10. Chris Harthman added seven points with Kyle McDermott chipping in with three as the Lancers upped their record to 3-2.

Burke, Horst honored as NJSIAA/ETS Scholar-Athlete

Seniors Kelly Burke and Nathan Horst were named NJSIAA-ETS Scholar-Athletes. The awards have been presented for 16 years with the honorees ranking in the top 10% of their senior class while earning at least two varsity letters and demonstrating outstanding qualities of leadership, character and service with the school and community.

NJSIAA honors Prisad

Senior Nina Prisad was honored at the 7th Annual New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Luncheon held at The Pines Manor in Edison on May 7, 2000.
